Bio
Ricardo Elgardo is a dj turned producer, born and raised in Southend, Essex in the UK. He started djing in the early 2000s under the name Rich-E and soon after became a resident dj in his local area and London supporting big artists and headline dj’s as well as being booked to play for local dance nights and iconic brands such as Raindance & Cream when they came to town. His passion, music selection and presence behind the decks meant he quickly rose through the ranks to become a regular on the Trance and Hard Dance scene, playing local pirate and internet radio whilst also running a monthly club night called RealMadClubbers with his friend Mai in Southend.
He turned his focus to production some years later and in 2015 he won an award for Best Soundtrack Feature at the Action On Film Festival held in L.A. for his original score work on the action film “The Liberator”. Since then he has worked on numerous short film scores and focuses on producing his true passion for music, Trance and Progressive House.
With releases on Boomtic Records, Soluna Music, Alter Ego Progressive and Krafted Digital, plus with numerous remixes and tracks added to compilation albums… Ricardo Elgardo is definitely one to keep an ear out for especially with new music always on the horizon!

WHAT IS
Excessive Progressive is a vision, it's an idea, it's a feeling, an emotion, it's a brand!
Ricardo wanted to create something he could throw his love for music into, something he could be passionate about and share with like minded music lovers. The idea focuses on that progressive sound within dance music, that raw emotion that can make you cry with a single riff or single melody or a crescendo of beautiful sounds and lyrics. It doesn't only focus on the genre of progressive, it can be euphoric trance, melodic techno, progressive trance, but rather than any genre in particular ... it's more about the emotion within the music!
Excessive Progressive is also a weekly radio show presented by Ricardo on local Southend community dance music radio station Funky SX, every single Monday night from 6.30pm. Where he plays the very best chilled, deep, progressive house & trance from around the world as well as his own productions and remixes. You can tune in live every week if you're local to Essex & Kent on 103.7FM or alternatively you can listen live from anywhere in the world via the website, app, or smart speaker. As well as the radio show, Excessive Progressive is also a dj mix series, where new mixes are posted up to his Mixcloud page regularly. More recently Excessive Progressive has now become a club night in Southend where people can listen and dance to the beautiful music as Ricardo and guests weave a musical story of pure emotion throughout the night. Ricardo has now launched his Excessive Progressive Listeners Mini Mix series, where he showcases Mini Mixes made by listeners of his Monday night radio show on FunkySX in the style of Excessive Progressive.
If you want to create a Mini Mix for Ricardo to play on his radio show, it needs to be no longer than 20 minutes, put in as many tracks as you like in the style of Excessive Progressive. Once you've created one, get in touch with Ricardo via social media or email directly to ricardoelgardo@hotmail.co.uk and he'll have a listen and if it fits the criteria it will get aired on his Monday night shows between 6.30pm and 8pm on FunkySX 103.7fm & Online.

MUSIC UNITY FOR MENTAL HEALTH
Ricardo is also a resident DJ and contributor for Music Unity For Mental Health. The aim of this organisation is to raise awareness and beat the stigma of mental health through the power of music! This includes club nights, gigs, dj/production workshops, event experiences, studio time and much more and also offering volunteer opportunities at events and march stalls at festivals. Money raised goes towards funding these and also direct to charities such as Mind, Young Minds, CALM and many more! Click the pic below to find out more about the organisation.
